Professional Treatments

New to professional skin treatments? Here’s where to start

Okay, so you’ve decided you want to have a skin treatment and start looking after your skin, but you are unsure where to start!? There are so many skin clinics and so many treatment options, it can often feel quite overwhelming.

Step 1 - Find a reputable JMSR skin clinic

If you don’t already have a JMSR stockist in mind, we can help you find your nearest clinic. Email info@janmariniaustralia.com.au and let us know your suburb and state and we will get back to you with some clinic options.

Step 2 - Book a consultation

Skin consultations are a great place to start as a trained skin therapist will take the time to listen to your concerns, find out what you’ve currently been doing using on your skin and work with your lifestyle and budget to create the best possible home care and treatment plan for you.

Step 3 – Commit to a series of treatments

When it comes to skin treatments, it’s not as quick and easy as having 1 treatment and seeing miraculous results (although you will often be pleased by the short-term improvements, this will depend upon your key concerns and other factors). Skin is a living, breathing organ and whilst it is responsive to treatments, it does require some TLC to work on the foundations first. Think of your skin cells like a roof on your house. If your roof has broken tiles and isn’t in the best condition it doesn’t matter how much skin care or treatments you do to repair it, because next time it rains, storms or the next hot sunny day, it will creep in past the roof tiles and can damage the inside of your house again. It is important to work on the foundations first, creating healthy cells that are strong and resilient and then you can move onto more advance treatments.

Your skin therapist will prescribe you the most suitable treatment program for you and will be able to adjust depending on how your skin responds over time. If in doubt, we encourage you to ask your skin therapist questions, or feel free to reach out to the JMSR Australia team direct. To see the best results possible with your skin, it will require your commitment and consistency. Just like going to the gym, you can’t expect to go once or go for 1-2 weeks and suddenly see a massive change. A treatment plan will generally consist of 6-12 treatments over a 6-month period. It is also important that your at home skincare routine is maintained throughout that time. Consistency is always key. Remember, results come from what you do every day, not what you do every now and again.

Step 4 – Polish up your at home skin care routine

One of the most important things to consider when starting treatments is to ensure you are on great clinical skincare. Think of your treatments as going to the gym and your skincare as your healthy diet at home. They are both so important to achieving skin health. Consider this, you could go to the gym every day and then get greasy, oily takeaway on the way home every night but you probably won’t see much of a change would you? The same rules apply when it comes to skin.

If your therapist recommends home care products to you, just note, they aren’t trying to sell to you so they can meet their quota, they are trying to set you up for the best possible results with your skin. If in doubt, ask questions. They will be able to guide you and advise you why they have chosen each product and how it will support your skin goals.
